We now have managed to find homes abroad for 46 dogs from Goldra animal Shelter and other urgent case dogs from outside the shelter which totals to around 30 dogs.
But, because many of these dogs have not been outside of the shelter in a very long time they cannot travel directly from the shelter to new homes. It is VERY hard on the dogs and for us.
We URGENTLY need offers for short term foster homes.
They will only be able to travel if people offer thier help.
The dogs must all be bought from the shelter to see the vet and they must all have a bath.
Due to airport disruptions, we had these dogs travelling by air in small groups of 5 dogs per day. We were able to send the dogs to boarding kennels or to one of our very few fosters prior to thier departure. Now we will have to send many of these dogs by road and many of them will be leaving on the same date.
They must have a place to stay for atleast three nights before they all travel to thier new homes. We simply dont have the space so we are looking for new volenteers.
We they are taken from the shelter, they are not to roam freely, but only walk on leads or in fenced gardens. While you can ofcourse foster a dog for a little longer, it is for three nights we really need the urgent help!
When we have sent the dogs directly from the shelter before they arrive very dirty and extremely stressed. The networks abroad to whome we rehome are only willing to take this many dogs from us because they have been happy that the dogs have arrived healthy and clean and because the dog that we have described over email has been the same dog that has arrived. This means that thier job is made easier and the dogs can go directly into new homes.
They all have homes to go to! Happy Homes! You will not be 'stuck' with these dogs - unless ofcourse there is an earthquake that stops road travel to go with the volcano that has stopped all air travel - in which case thier departure could be a little delayed.
If you want to possibly keep a dog you can happily foster another dog, but these dogs are not available for adoption.
What it involves:
- we will send you the complete details of the dogs travel and what they are like. YOu can then choose the dog to foster (either small, medium, large, male or female)
- We would shedule a time and place for the dog to be collected or bought to you.
- The dog will immediatly need a bath (which we can even do for you!)
- While the dog is with you, any special care you are able to give the dog is a bonus. But mostly it needs a safe and clean place to stay. You will be given a wormer and an advantix while the dog is with you.
- You will then bring us the dog during a sheduled time slot for 'loading' onto the truck which will then be driving the dog to its happy home.
- Once the dog is happy in its new home, we will send you the information and photos about the lucky dog.
